Claranet hits the right note with managed co-location service
TuneTribe.com, the online music download store, is to outsource its server co-location and management to Claranet, the expert Managed Services Provider for business. The deal will see Claranet provide co-location space for TuneTribe's servers in its datacentre as well as providing Internet connectivity and domain and mail hosts.
Visitors to the TuneTribe website can choose from 1.2 million tracks from independent and major record labels around the world, as well as exclusive live sets from a number of top artists. TubeTribe.com not only acts as a sophisticated e-commerce site; it also provides visitors with a wealth of information, from recommendations written by music journalists to news, artists' interviews and blogs. Unsigned artists can even upload their own music themselves and have their music sold on the site. Because of the value of card transactions that pass over the site every day, TuneTribe sought a partner that could not only support its content-rich website but would also ensure that it remained fully compliant with the new Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) regulations. This will guarantee e-shoppers the highest levels of security.
Claranet will implement a co-location service for nine TuneTribe servers and will fully manage their gateway to the Internet with high availability firewalls and load balancers. The service will include a resilient 100Mbps Ethernet connection with a fully automated ADSL failover between Claranet's datacentre and TubeTribe's offices in the City. Claranet will also provide managed hosting and renewal for TubeTribe's domains. Finally, a new email service will be implemented which features full anti-virus and anti-spam protection alongside all the usual Microsoft Exchange functionalities.
To ensure PCI DSS compliance, all equipment will be housed in a fully lockable rack, while all CCTV footage from the datacentre will be stored for six months. The service will provide a minimum of 99.9 per cent uptime along with 24/7 monitoring and support, a premium support service and zero points of failure within the network.
