A poll of 300 senior IT decision makers has found that cloud adoption is most prevalent among medium-sized businesses where take-up is outstripping smaller and enterprise sized organisations by a considerable margin. According to research by Claranet, 60 per cent of organisations in the mid-market space have deployed cloud services, compared to 44 per cent of small firms and and 48 per cent in the corporate sector.
Michael Robert, Managing Director, Claranet UK, commented: "The reasons for the lower uptake among smaller and larger enterprises could perhaps be explained in two ways. Smaller companies may lack in-house IT expertise to manage the services themselves; while for large enterprises there are issues around risk assessment, compliance and purchasing, increasing the length of the procurement process
