Online application software provider for the private healthcare community, Healthcode, today announced it has selected Claranet to provide a private virtualised application platform for its online practice management software. Healthcode, which is jointly owned by AXA PPPh, BUPA, Aviva, Nuffield Hospitals and Standard Life Healthcare, specialises in providing products which enable private practices and hospitals to manage their insurance and billing processes electronically Healthcode currently processes in excess of £2.5billion in bills and insurance claims every year.
The hosting service will be a virtualised computing platform to enable better capacity management and the roll out of new SaaS (Software as a Service) products. With the transition to e-billing and online insurance processing, Healthcode has seen rapid growth in the demand for its range of management software and online services for the private health market. Following this significant growth, Healthcode realised the need to upgrade its hosting platform to support the roll out of new products and services. With customer access to its online software applications critical to the success of its business, Healthcode requires the highest levels of availability, performance and reliability. This needs to be backed up with built-in resiliency to ensure service uptime, which would, in turn, provide a smooth and seamless experience for practices using Healthcode products.
The Claranet virtualised hosting platform will underpin our whole business and provide a stepping stone for the expansion of new products and services. As our products, and therefore our business, will be completely supported by Claranet, it was fundamental that we chose a hosting provider of the highest calibre that could meet our strict specifications.
Furthermore, processing medical and commercial information daily means we take our security very seriously and require our vendors to do the same. Claranet proposed a tailored solution which took into account our strict security and availability demands and provided a solution which met these requirements. It was a combination of Claranet’s processes, people and facilities, and the ability to offer a complete end-to-end solution, which left us to choose them as our hosting partner.

With any SaaS product, performance and uptime are essential. We know that the quality of Healthcode’s products is reliant upon the hosting infrastructure we provide – and we take this responsibility very seriously. We pride ourselves on the ability to implement bespoke solutions to meet a wide range of business demands and look forward to continuing to work with Healthcode as its business grows.
