Claranet Achieves AWS Level 1 Managed Security Service Provider Competency Status

Claranet announced today that it has achieved Amazon Web Services (AWS) Level 1 Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) Competency status. This designation recognises that Claranet has successfully met AWS's requirements for a baseline of managed security services to protect and monitor essential AWS resources 24/7, known as Level 1 Managed Security Services.

This new baseline standard of quality for managed security services was introduced by AWS to help cloud environments of any size, and it spans six security domains: vulnerability management, cloud security best practices and compliance, threat detection and response, network security, host and endpoint security, and application security. The six domains hold multiple MSSP services, each addressing specific security challenges and harnessing the native capabilities of AWS.

AWS launched the AWS Level 1 MSSP Competency to enable customers to easily get expert security capability to support essential workloads, confirmed by AWS. AWS security experts annually confirm the tools used and operational processes of each MSSP address specific cloud security challenges such as continuous event monitoring, triage, AWS service configuration best practices, and 24/7 alerting and reporting. The AWS Level 1 MSSP Competency supplies a faster and easier experience for customers to select the right MSSP to help them build and secure AWS environments.

Achieving the AWS Level 1 MSSP Competency differentiates Claranet as an MSSP, and AWS Partner with essential 24/7 managed cloud security skillsets.

Claranet is proud to be an inaugural launch partner and one of the few AWS Partners globally to have achieved AWS Level 1 MSSP Competency status," said Dave Ashton, UK Security Services Director. "We are committed to providing our customers with security services that address all challenges and avoids fragmented technology choices. Enabling AWS Services securely allows our customers to focus on their business knowing that our specialists are looking after the security of their organisation, data, and customers"

Ryan Orsi, WW Security/MSSP Practice Team Lead at AWS, commented: "We introduced the AWS Level 1 MSSP Competency to benchmark Managed Security providers and make it easier for our customers to select a partner. We are pleased to welcome Claranet as a UK AWS Level 1 MSSP Competency Partner. Claranet is now able to demonstrate that their high-standards for security can be trusted by our customers."

AWS is enabling scalable, flexible, and cost-effective solutions to startups and global enterprises. Supporting the seamless integration and deployment of these solutions, AWS set up the AWS Competency Program to help customers find AWS Partners with deep industry experience and ability.

With over 60 cybersecurity experts, a founding member of the CREST security certification body, and one of the largest training partners at the globally acclaimed Black Hat conferences, Claranet Cyber Security has been supplying services such as threat detection and response, security auditing, and pen testing to its customers for over 20 years.

While pen testing is still a central part of their portfolio, the shift from protection to detection and response has seen a new focus on growing managed security services. Managed Detection and Response (SoC), Endpoint Detection and Response, and Continuous Security Testing supply the secure foundations that allow customers to adapt their businesses at pace and at scale without compromise.

Ronan Guiho, CTO, Swapcard, a leading virtual event platform provider and a Managed Detection and Response Customer with Claranet, added:

Claranet instantaneously brought a wealth of security experience to our team in the short period before the event. They were committed to helping us feel confident in our platform's security, not selling us on fear. That's very different to how a lot of other cybersecurity providers operate."
