R+V's digital sales platform: Claranet secures management and operation

Summary:

- Challenge: Cloud-based provision of the sales platform via a managed application hoster with a high level of security expertise

- Solution: Data protection and compliance-compliant, high-performance full-service solution for the insurance industry

- Result: The potential of cloud-based business processes can thus be utilised for cresult and R+V

cresult GmbH

The software manufacturer cresult, based on the campus of Insurlab Germany e. V. in Cologne, specialises in the development of cloud-based business processes. V. in Cologne specialises in the design of service processes in industries characterised by continuing obligations.

The core product is "4forms", a sales platform for financial and other services that enables the seamless digitalisation of sales and business processes based on existing application landscapes.

R+V Allgemeine Versicherung AG

R+V is one of the largest insurers in Germany and is part of the Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken cooperative financial network.

Digitalisation in the insurance sector

The software manufacturer cresult supports insurers in the digital transformation with a platform for the sale of financial services that is specially tailored to the insurance industry and is independent of lines of business and products.

4forms is designed to support all sales channels in the execution and documentation of sales and advisory processes in a legally compliant manner. Documents such as insurance confirmations can be handed over to customers automatically and digitally. In addition, the dispatch of further materials can be initiated.

Cloud-based provision requires high security standards

To ensure that busy internal IT resources at insurance companies do not become a barrier to using the platform, cresult planned the optional cloud-based provision via a suitable managed application hoster (MAH), which would take responsibility for management and high-performance, secure operation.

The key to success for cresult was to bring on board an MAH provider that fully meets the particularly high regulatory requirements in the insurance industry in the areas of security, compliance, risk management and data integration and is able to assume the risks and responsibilities arising from commissioned data processing.

Claranet scores with its MAH platform and high level of security expertise

"Claranet is one of the few MAH providers in Germany that can provide incident management and operational management in our technological stack - namely Java," says Michael Lindemann, Managing Director of cresult GmbH.

"In addition, Claranet's cloud hosting services meet the highest standards for data protection, data security, business continuity management and quality management. This guarantees that the comprehensive and strict regulatory requirements in the insurance sector are perfectly mapped in terms of processes."

The potential of cloud-based business processes to optimise process efficiency is becoming increasingly important for us as an insurance company.
By working with cresult as a development partner and Claranet as a MAH specialist, we have been able to harness this potential."

The cresult solution is hosted on Claranet's managed application hosting platform, a highly scalable dual data centre platform with scale-out architecture in the Claranet data centre in Frankfurt. Resources such as CPU performance or memory can be flexibly adapted to changing requirements by means of scale-up and scale-out.

Additional features include a comprehensive 24/7 monitoring system with system documentation, IT infrastructure library processes and regular, complete and incremental backups. Claranet also ensures round-the-clock operation of the applications and database and is responsible for deployment across three environments.

"Claranet's numerous certifications, infrastructural requirements such as access restrictions and defined approval processes enable us to meet even the highest security and compliance requirements, such as those found in the financial services industry," explains Michael Lindemann.

R+V relies on cresult and Claranet

R+V decided to use the cresult solution as part of a full-service model, i.e. for management and operation via Claranet.

The insurance company uses a customised software development from cresult based on 4forms for the insurance of micro-vehicles such as mopeds, e-scooters, S-pedelecs and mobility scooters. The entire insurance process, from application and reporting to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) to the issuing of licence plates, is completely digitalised.

Before going live on Claranet's MAH platform, a stress test was carried out on the platform to ensure sufficiently high performance. Within 100 minutes, 16,000 new contracts were concluded via the platform without any problems.

"We can use the advantages of the application in the specialist departments in terms of strengthening customer centricity and process optimisation without our internal IT having to worry about ensuring performance, updates, etc.," says Rainer Grimper. We can utilise the benefits in terms of strengthening customer centricity and process optimisation without our internal IT having to worry about ensuring performance, updates, etc.," says Rainer Grim, responsible for motor vehicle product development at R+V.

"Claranet and cresult enjoy our full confidence that the solution not only performs well, but also complies with data protection and compliance regulations."
