Claranet takes on the National Three Peaks Challenge

On September 8th, a team of 30 Claranet staff, joined by colleagues from our partners at Fortinet and Exclusive, travelled to Fort William, Scotland, to take on the National Three Peaks Challenge.

This iconic challenge involves climbing the highest peaks in Scotland, England, and Wales within 24 hours: Ben Nevis at 1,344m, Scafell Pike at 978m, and Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) at 1,085m. The total walking distance is 23 miles, with a combined ascent of 3,064 metres, making it one of the UK’s most demanding outdoor events.

Walking with purpose

The team undertook this challenge in support of our chosen charity, Magic Breakfast, whose mission is to ensure that no child starts the day too hungry to learn. The charity provides over 200,000 children with free, nutritious breakfasts each morning, recognising that a full tummy is essential for confidence, concentration, and academic success.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, the team raised a total of £23,000, which will help Magic Breakfast continue delivering this vital support to children across the country.

Teamwork and tenacity

The journey didn’t come without obstacles: national train strikes disrupted travel plans, and even our CEO’s luggage went missing along the way. Despite these early setbacks, the team pressed on with determination and unity. Some participants were seasoned hikers, while others were tackling their first mountain but from start to finish, every member supported each other, showing resilience, encouragement, and true team spirit.

From breathtaking summit views to tough climbs in the dark, the experience pushed everyone to their limits. The terrain was challenging, the hours were long, and the weather unpredictable, but the motivation never wavered.

A challenge that made a difference

This wasn’t just about reaching the top of three mountains. It was about coming together, pushing boundaries, and making a meaningful impact. The money raised will help provide thousands of breakfasts, giving more children the energy and focus they need to thrive in school and beyond.

Looking back and forward

As we reflect on this remarkable achievement, we are filled with pride for our team's unwavering spirit and determination. The journey may have ended, but our commitment to making a difference in the world continues.
